What is The Gospel?
The gospel, meaning “good news,” is that the holy and righteous God has made a way to redeem sinful humanity through the life, death, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. All have sinned, falling short of God’s perfect standard, and stand under His just judgment. But in His great love, God sent His Son to live the life we could not, die in our place, and rise again in victory over sin and death. Through repentance and faith in Christ, we are forgiven, born again, and reconciled to God, receiving eternal life (John 3:16; Romans 1:16).
Will you respond to this good news? Repent and believe in Jesus Christ today, for He is the only way to be saved (John 14:6).
Who Is God?
God is holy, righteous, and just. He is the Creator of all things (Genesis 1:1), perfect in all His ways, and utterly separate from sin (Isaiah 6:3). As the sovereign ruler of the universe, God’s standard is moral perfection (Matthew 5:48). Because He is just, He cannot overlook sin; His justice demands that sin be punished (Habakkuk 1:13). Yet, God is also loving and merciful, abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness (Exodus 34:6-7). The gospel begins with understanding who God is: He is both a just judge and a loving Savior.
Who Are We?
We are sinners, created in the image of God but fallen and separated from Him because of sin (Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23). Sin is not just wrongdoing—it is rebellion against God’s rightful authority. Because of sin, we are spiritually dead (Ephesians 2:1-3), deserving of God’s wrath and eternal separation from Him in hell (Romans 6:23). Even our best efforts to be “good” fall short of God’s perfect standard (Isaiah 64:6). We are utterly incapable of saving ourselves and are in desperate need of a Savior.
What Has God Done?
God, in His great love and mercy, sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to provide the only solution to humanity’s sin. Jesus, fully God and fully man, lived the perfect, sinless life we could never live (2 Corinthians 5:21). He willingly went to the cross, where He bore the punishment for our sins, satisfying the justice of God (Isaiah 53:5-6). On the third day, He rose again, conquering sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). This is the great exchange: our sin was placed on Jesus, and His perfect righteousness is credited to all who trust in Him. Through Jesus’ finished work, God offers forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal life.
What Is Repentance?
Repentance is a supernatural, Spirit-led turning from sin to God. It is more than regret over sin’s consequences; it is a godly sorrow for sin as an offense against a holy God (2 Corinthians 7:10). True repentance involves:
• A heartfelt sorrow for sin (Psalm 51:3-4).
• A turning away from sin and forsaking it (Isaiah 55:7).
• Submission to God’s authority, recognizing His right to rule and govern your life.
Repentance is inseparable from faith. To be saved, we must repent of our sins and trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation (Mark 1:15). Repentance is both a decisive act and a lifelong posture of turning away from sin and walking in obedience to God.
